Up to 87% of the public get their information about science from the media – this includes newspapers, the Internet, and radio
(Ipsos MORI, 2011)
Engaging with public audiences is one of the best ways to enhance the wider understanding of your science. But we know that it isn’t always easy! Here at Climatica we have worked closely with the UK Science Media Centre in London and the European Geosciences Union (EGU) Media Office to source the most effective tools for enhancing one’s outreach skills. We have distilled this knowledge into a series of guides to help scientists looking to develop their engagement activities.
In addition to the PDF documents available for download, we also list our favourite on-line resources from science organisations around the world. This covers all aspects of public outreach from writing for websites (such as Climatica), blogs, schools outreach, and press releases.
More titles including: ‘Websites and blogs’ and ‘Exhibitions’ coming soon. Contact us () if you need further assistance with outreach or if there are other resources that you would like to see in the Climatica toolkit.
Happy communicating!
